about the work
How are we together?
As a Gestalt therapist I focus on the dialogic co-creation in the “here and now:” I pay close attention to what’s happening in the interpersonal contact in the room between the two of us. I’m actively curious about how we relate to one another in our diversity. I attend to what emerges in the room in the therapeutic relationship to help you broaden your awareness and grow your response-ability. My focus is the process of how this happens.
I believe that being able to get in touch with, name, and stay with the emotions, feelings, and bodily sensations entangled in the self is healing. I would love to be part of your process of “disentanglement,” growth, and self-compassion building. You don’t have to do this all by yourself- accessing support is an active step of self-care.
ACCESSIBILITY:
As a white able-bodied neurospicy person, I’m aware of my privilege to access therapy services relatively “easily”. Therefore, I feel the responsibility to acknowledge different psychosomatic and financial starting points for therapy. I recognise my inability to be fully “inclusive” but I offer a limited number of reduced-cost spaces for students or those on a low income. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch so that we can have a chat about what accessible therapy looks like to you and whether I’m able to accommodate your need.
The therapy room I rent at Space to Be You in Hackney is unfortunately not accessible for people with mobility limitations. I deeply regret that my practice excludes people because of the absence of lift in the building. Whilst I can most certainly offer to see people with mobility restrictions online, the physical therapy room can only be accessed via two flights of stairs. My sincere apologies!
The important bits:
I provide Gestalt counselling to individuals over 18.
I work in-person in Hackney or online and offer individual weekly 50-minute long therapy sessions.
We meet at the same time same day every week for the contracted period of time. This will be your slot.
FEES:
Individuals: £65 / session
INITIAL CONTACT:
I encourage you to get in touch with me via email or the contact form to enquire about my current availability. This contact could help you gauge how you feel in our written communication: how do you feel when I respond to you? What are your expectations and needs? How does my contact style land on you?
Subsequently, I offer a free 30-minute online Google Meet consultation for us to e-meet and see whether we could work together. This meeting support you in making a decision about whether or not I’m the right therapist for you and whether you’d like to entrust me with your therapeutic process. This is also the time when you can ask me any additional questions.
I offer short-term and open-ended therapy with regular check-ins. Growing awareness of one’s way of being, exploring patterns and different parts of you, and developing self-compassion takes time and I’d most certainly recommend at least six sessions to begin with.
The first step of the work is an initial assessment and contracting to offer you a focused and intentional space for the exploration of your issues. I strive to be as transparent as possible in how I work to offer you a clearly defined boundaried space for your therapy. In order to access and explore what feels “difficult,” having boundaries in place is of the utmost importance. Would you go to a rooftop of a skyscraper if it had no parapet or fall protection?
